As a Tour Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Executing a pre-planned travel itinerary
  • Delivering an unforgettable travel journey to all guests.
  • Making the destination and sights come alive for your group by providing an entertaining local, cultural, and historical narrative
  • Managing tour logistics and safety

Tour Directing is the perfect role for someone who enjoys working independently, connects quickly with others, can think on his/her feet, and has a true passion for providing experiential learning opportunities for students. You’ll join a team of dedicated travel enthusiasts, and benefit from all the resources and support you need to make each tour you lead a dream come true for the students.

While our most popular tour destinations are Washington, D.C., New York City, Philadelphia and Boston, we also operate tours to California, Chicago, Seattle and Vancouver, B.C. Tour Directing with Experience is seasonal contract work, and while the bulk of our groups travel between March and June, we do have tours running almost every month of the year.

A successful Tour Director:

  • Is outgoing, confident, enthusiastic and FUN!
  • Makes sound decisions independently
  • Solves problems creatively, with the needs of the group in mind
  • Knows how to read their audience and adjust accordingly

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with Group Leaders, Experience office staff, and suppliers to coordinate an enjoyable and rewarding educational travel experience
  • Manage, from start to finish, all on-road operations for assigned tours
  • Assume primary responsibility for our travelers’ day-to-day safety and well-being
  • Handle various problems and emergencies related to tour members and tour conditions
  • Be available at any time to assist tour members in case of emergency, while directing an assigned tour
  • Provide commentary and guidance to enhance the travel experience
  • Offer advice on food, shopping and tourism options during free time
  • Meet your groups upon arrival and staying with them through the duration of their tour
  • Resolve hotel and vendor issues
  • Manage a web-based tour diary that documents your group’s adventures through daily posts containing photos and summaries of the day’s activities
  • Maintaining an on-tour expense allowance and all accompanying documentation
  • Send debrief reports, financial information and feedback in a timely manner after each tour
  • Accurately maintain and organize paperwork
  • Perform other duties as assigned as deemed necessary by the Operations Manager.
