We bring the city to life with a customized curriculum and itinerary that tells the story of New York through the experiences of successive waves of Catholic and other immigrants. From the Great Hall of Ellis Island to the towering spires of St Patrick’s Cathedral, you will learn how immigration helped shape the diverse and dynamic city and country we know today.
Day 1: Arrive in New York
Students arrive and settle into hotel accommodations.
Day 2: NYC Bus Tour and Rockefeller Center
Orientation & Lecture: Immigration and New York
Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral
Dinner at Times Square
Learn about New York’s storied immigrant history and explore Manhattan — the heart of the Big Apple and New York’s most densely populated borough — where you’ll see some of the city’s best-known landmarks, including Times Square and Rockefeller Center.
Day 3: Wall St. Walking Tour
Federal Hall, Trinity Church & Battery Park Memorial
Empire State Building at night
Walk through the Financial District, home to the New York Stock Exchange, and learn about the US financial system before ending the evening with the best views of the city atop New York’s most famous building.
Day 4: Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
Attend Baseball Game
Visit the historic Ellis Island, where millions of immigrants came to America between 1892 and 1954, and learn more about their stories at the Tenement Museum before attending a baseball game to watch New Yorkers root for their team.
Day 5: National 9/11 Memorial and One World Observatory

Dinner in Little Italy
Visit the national memorial honoring victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2011 and learn about the Jewish immigrant history of New York’s Lower East Side neighborhood before eating at one of the city’s most popular dinner destinations.
Day 6: Walking tour of Brooklyn Bridge and Brooklyn
Visit immigrant rights group
Go on a walking tour of Brooklyn and across New York’s iconic bridge — the first steel-wire suspension bridge in the US — and learn more about immigrant struggles from people fighting for immigrant rights in present-day America.
Day 7: St. Patrick’s Cathedral Tour
United Nations Tour
Experience two of New York’s most famous institutions—the UN’s headquarters complex and St. Patrick’s Cathedral— then enjoy an unforgettable live performance at one of Broadway’s legendary theatres.
Day 8: Met Museum
Central Park Picnic
Dinner at Eataly and 5th Ave. shopping
Start your last day in New York taking in the largest art museum in the country, then enjoy a festive picnic in the city’s most famous park before exploring Eataly’s Italian marketplace and New York’s shopping mecca on 5th Ave.
Day 9: Travel home
Students will say their goodbyes and head home.
