How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in our Experience America Program. We offer you several ways to apply depending on your situation. You can apply directly via our web site; you can come through one of our overseas partners; or you can apply if you're already in the U.S. enrolled in a language school or university program.

Personalized Training Program

1. Direct: for applicants from countries where Experience America does not have an overseas partner. (see list in #2.)

To apply, please complete the Intent to Apply form and submit. Once we receive your inquiry, we will e-mail (or mail) you a complete application and information packet.

2. Through an Overseas Partner: for applicants from countries where Experience America has an overseas partner, please contact our representative directly for information on how to apply. These overseas partners are:

3. Through an English Language School: for applicants on an F-1 student visa with an English language school in the U.S., or who require additional English language training.

To apply, please complete the Intent to Apply form , or go to our "Resources" page for our recommendation on English language training.

4. Through a College or University: for applicants already in the U.S. on an F-1 visa attending a college or university.

To apply, please complete the Intent to Apply form and submit. Once we receive your inquiry, we will e-mail (or mail) you a complete application packet, including program costs.
Self-Arranged Training Program

If you are applying for the Self-Arranged Training Program, simply follow the steps below:

1. Complete the Intent to Apply form and email or fax to Experience America, along with your C.V. or resume.

The program cost for the Self-Arranged Training Program will be forwarded to you.
Visa Application Fees

Experience America has applied to the U.S. Department of State for a J-1 Trainee designation which will allow us to issue Form DS-2019 (formerly IAP-66). Until our designation is approved, Experience America works closely with other designated organizations to obtain Form DS-2019 on your behalf.

For both the Personalized and Self-Arranged Training Programs, the visa application fee is $450. Please bear in mind, a training position must be confirmed before Form DS-2019 can be issued. Experience America can place you with a host company and help you obtain Form DS-2019! Experience America holds the key to your training experience in the U.S.!
Other Expenses

Airfare: You are responsible for your airfare to and from the U.S. Or, ask our overseas partner if they have a special discount arrangement with airlines.

Accommodation: Full homestays, including 2 meals per day, range from $750 per month for shared rooms to $950 per month for private rooms. Residence clubs also vary depending on the type of room, bathroom, and meal plan. Rates range from $575 - $1080 for shared rooms, to $980 - $1480 for private rooms. Medical Insurance: You will be required to provide evidence of medical and accident insurance coverage which meets or exceeds the following limits set forth by the U.S. Department of State:

* Medical & Accident $50,000 per illness/accident

* $500 deductible per illness/accident

* Medical Evacuation: $10,000

* Repatriation: $7,500

Experience America can assist you in obtaining medical insurance if your personal policy does not meet the coverage limits above.

Commuting Costs: Commuting costs vary around the San Francisco Bay area depending on where you live and how you commute. On average, commuting costs will range from $40 - $150 per month.
